Research Team

I am an Associate Professor at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the Universidade de Lisboa (ISCSP). Currently, I serve as Vice-President for Research at ISCSP, where I am also a member of the Scientific Council. Additionally, I am a research fellow at the Centre for Public Administration and Policies (CAPP). My recent research interest focuses on housing, homeownership, and the welfare state - particularly in Southern European countries. My recent research explores the intersection of housing inequalities from an intergenerational perspective, which has been funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Institute for Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU). I currently teach in the field of Housing Policy and Contemporary Debates in Social Policy.

I am Associate Professor at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the Universidade de Lisboa (ISCSP) and integrated researcher of the Centre of Public Administration and Public Policies (CAPP) in which I also currently serve as Vice-President of the Executive Council. I teach in the undergraduate program in Social Work and in the master’s and doctoral programs in Social Policy at ISCSP, and I am the executive coordinator of the master’s program in Social Policy. PhD in Economic Sociology, my research lies in the areas of Welfare and Social Policy, with focus on poverty, including housing deprivation, human needs, income adequacy, and minimum income policies.

I hold a PhD in Economics and serve as a professor at the Lisbon School of Economics and Management (ISEG), Universidade de Lisboa. I am one of the coordinators of the Master in Monetary and Financial Economics and am part of the scientific commission for the PhD program on Population Sciences of the Universidade de Lisboa. As an integrated research member at the Research Centre in Economic and Organizational Sociology (SOCIUS), my research focuses on the Economics of Ageing, particularly applied to Southern Europe. Key areas include intergenerational transfers, healthcare, long-term care, living arrangements, social exclusion, and the macroeconomic impacts of population ageing. My work has been published in several international journals, and I have contributed to book chapters. I also serve as a referee for various journals and have been responsible for the biennial International Workshop on the Socio-Economics of Ageing, in Lisbon since 2009.

I am an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the Universidade de Lisboa (ISCSP) and a member of the Centre for Administration and Public Policies. I have a PhD in Social Sciences, in the specialization in Social Work. I develop my teaching and research activities in Social Work, social responsibility, community intervention and participatory methodologies. My extra-academic experience focused on managing projects and local networks, particularly in the Municipality of Oeiras, where I worked for 10 years. I participate in the development of community programs and local strategic planning instruments, also integrating national networks to promote social responsibility in organizations.

I am an Assistant Professor at Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the Universidade de Lisboa (ISCSP), where I am also a member of the Pedagogical Council. Additionally, I am a Vice Coordinator and integrated researcher at the Centre for the Study of Migration and Intercultural Relations (CEMRI) - Universidade Aberta of Lisboa. PhD in in Educational Sciences (Intercultural Education), my research interest focuses on the Mediterranean and North African studies, more specifically, the importance of youth and intercultural education for rethinking cultural relations between Europe and the Maghreb. I currently teach in the field of Education and Training Policies (master’s in Social Policy), Sociology of Education (undergraduate program of Sociology) and Society, Power and Culture of the Maghreb and the Arab world (master’s in African Studies). Recently, I am involved in the research team led by Associate Professor Romana Xerez: “Housing, Welfare and Inequalities in Southern Europe: Exploratory Research from Portugal on Generation Z”, that explores the intersection of housing inequalities from an intergenerational perspective.

Assistant Professor at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the Universidade de Lisboa (ISCSP) and at the Universidade Aberta (UAb), is also a researcher at the Centre for Administration and Public Policies (CAPP/ISCSP-ULisboa). Lecturer in the Degrees in Social Service (ISCSP-ULisboa) and in Social Sciences (UAb) and in the Masters in Social Policy and Social Work [ADVANCES Erasmus Mundus Program] at ISCSP-ULisboa. With a degree, master’s degree, and PhD in Social Work, also has a PhD in Social Sciences, the scientific area of interest is Social Service, on the topics of corporate social responsibility, leadership, social policies, public administration, and public policies.
Consultant

Richard Ronald is Professor of Housing and Chair of the Political and Economic Geographies Group at the University of Amsterdam and is also Adjunct Professor at the Australian Centre for Housing Research at the University of Adelaide. In addition to being a Professor, Richard Ronald has been an editor for several publications and magazines, including Palgrave Macmillan’s “The Contemporary City” and Chairman of the Board of the International Journal of Housing Policy, where he was Editor-in-Chief. His research focuses on housing processes as drivers of social, economic and urban transformations in Europe and Pacific Asia. His 2008 monograph, “The Ideology of Home Ownership”, is one of the most cited in the field of Housing Studies. His most recent book (2023) is titled “Families, Housing and Property Wealth in a Neoliberal World”.
Research fellow

I have a Degree in Political Science from the Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the Universidade de Lisboa (ISCSP-ULisboa), where I am currently attending the Master's Degree in Political Science. My scientific area of interest is Political Science. Outside of academia, I had the opportunity to intern at the Economic and Social Council where I followed the work of the Social Concertation Standing Committee, a body that brings together the Government, Employers' Representatives and Trade Unions, and the arbitration courts, one way of collective conflict resolution in labour matters.
